Login to reply the answers Post; Anonymous. Cats with diarrhoea do not require a period of dietary rest. Sometimes when they are disrupted, a cat’s diarrhea will continue even after the initial insult (stress, disease, antibiotic therapy, etc.)
To keep your cat feeling as good as possible after spaying, make sure to diligently abide by all of the clinic's or hospital's post-operation instruction, whether they pertain to feeding, bathing or anything else. Some cats appear to be disoriented or uncoordinated. Your cat should also regain her appetite after the first day post surgery, so if she doesn't resume her normal eating habits, let your vet know.

There are other possibilities. In fact feeding your cat will aid their intestinal recovery. £80 worth of antibiotics, rehydration powders and antacids later and she has certainly perked up a bit. The only time a period of rest from food would be advisable would be if your cat was also vomiting. After this last TNR, we trapped three cats. It was wrong of that Vet clinic to tell you that was normal and then to not even administer the fluids to a dehydrated kitten. It's really uncommon but sometimes an animal's kidneys can be damaged if there is a drop in blood pressure during an anesthetic, or if they react to certain medications that would have been given during the surgery.
